Does it seem like Christmas is quickly approaching, even though it's more than a month away? Department stores are pushing the button earlier and earlier every year in a rush to get the winter holiday spending going.
Although some people are happy and excited about Christmas, most people want it to slow down. Ravyn Kitt, a junior at Audubon High School, said, “My mom said someone has their tree up already, the day after Halloween. It does make the holidays seem rushed.”
However, Alaina Torneten, a senior at AHS, said, “The decorations make me happy because I’m going to Florida for Christmas and I can’t wait.” People have their own opinions about the holidays, but are stores still pushing it?
Kitt said, “I haven’t really noticed any decorations at stores, but when I do, I always see them at Walmart.”
Torneten said, “I’ve seen Christmas decorations everywhere, especially Walmart.” Which proves that, yes, the holidays are approaching, but it isn't even close to Thanksgiving yet, so why break out the Christmas decorations? It might be a marketing strategy, or CEOs are just really enthusiastic about Christmas. Customers may never know, but they will definitely know when Christmas is coming.
