On Monday, Nov. 10, the basketball season began for the girls at Audubon High School. All of the girls have mixed emotions; some are very fired up for the season, while others, like freshman Rachel Mosinski, are feeling a little nervous.
To prepare for the season, Mosinski attended a high school basketball camp this summer for the first time. She said she felt rushed at the high school level compared to the junior high basketball she was used to. “You always have to be on your feet,” Mosinski said. Goals Mosinski has for the season are to “become closer to my teammates, keep my head up, and be the best I can be."
On the other side of the spectrum, senior Morgan Gust is “extremely excited.” For her last year of basketball, Gust hopes to be the Western Iowa Conference (WIC) champs, go on to state, and to have a great season with all of her teammates. She is very enthusiastic about the year, and even though the team lost some key players last year, she isn’t worried. “Yes, I would have to contest that it is going to be a rebuilding year considering we lost a big scorer last year and other great players, but we all played so [well] together this summer…We have girls that will step up this year, and it will be great!”
