Seraina Liebi is one of Audubon High School’s foreign exchange students. Her host parents are Patty and Brian Svoboda, along with some fun host siblings: James, Jesse, and Mary. “I couldn’t ask for a better host family.” Liebi said. Liebi also mentioned that the Svobodas are very welcoming and kind. Liebi’s brother at home in Switzerland and Jesse here in Audubon are a lot alike, which makes being so far from home much easier. She is very glad to have two older brothers here in America. Wrestling and riding four-wheelers with Jesse and James makes things exciting.
Liebi isn’t only a stud at volleyball here; she also plays club volleyball at home. Unlike volleyball here, her team only practices two times a week. Liebi enjoyed the Wheeler volleyball season; she never had such a big crowd at a match to watch her before. Back at home she only would have maybe two to five people there to watch. To keep her love for athletics going, Liebi is learning a completely new sport to her: basketball.
She has been learning different plays and rules of basketball. “Basketball is definitely not as easy as it looks!” Liebi exclaimed.
She is still having fun with the friends she has made at Audubon School. The first day of school was crazy for Liebi. She had no idea where to go but with the help of her friends and little sister Mary, things went much smoother. “I could just show them my schedule and they took me to the next class,” stated Liebi. She still has a lot to look forward to in the new year.
