An aspiration Coder has for the year is to take the Audubon Jazz Choir back to the Jazz Championships; although she has never directed a jazz choir, Coder is very excited for the jazz season to start and is anxious to expose the kids to new music. Hemmingsen and fellow senior Kaitlin Andersen also share that goal. Another desire of Coder’s is to recruit more kids into the choir.
Coder said she hopes the students “take more chances and do more things” in her classes. She is eager to help the students broaden their horizons and become more open-minded. ”The things that scare you the most are the things that are going to help you grow the most,” Coder said; “You really don’t know what you can do until you try it.”
