With a very exciting fall sports season wrapping up at Audubon High School, now begins the winter sports season. Whether it’s drilling plays on the court or working hard in the wrestling room, the athletes are preparing. The wrestling team is looking for another potential return trip to state, after making it to Wells Fargo Arena last year. Junior Brad Kerkhoff, a two time state qualifier, is prepared for the long season and said, “the way we train, we are in good enough shape to wrestle well at the beginning, but we do peak at the end of the season, which is good.” On the other side of things, senior Logan Bauer, a team captain of the boy’s basketball team, is ready for the heavy competition in the Western Iowa Conference. “Since our conference added Logan Magnolia and IKM-Manning, the conference has a lot of competition that will help our team prepare for the post season.” The girl’s basketball team has an experienced team with seniors: Haille Anthofer, Susie Bylund, Olivia Klocke, Emma Konkler, and Seraina Liebi. They look to have a strong season. The girls made their first appearance at home, Nov. 21 at the Jamboree. Boys basketball will be hitting the court on Nov. 26 at home, and wrestlers will gear up for their first meet, Dec. 3, at Carroll Kuemper High School. |
