Senior Megan Deist playing Flappy Bird in study hall. Many teenagers and adults have been affected by the newly popular game, Flappy Bird. It is a simple game designed to maneuver a bird through pipes, which seems easy, but many have found that it is more difficult than it sounds. This game has got many people in a uproar, and the games’ creator Dong Nguyen has reportedly removed it from the app store because of so much hate mail and complaints. People are accusing him of illegally getting the app to the top in the app store; however, there is no proof supporting this accusation. Nguyen has been cited saying, that he created the game in a few hours and never intended for it to get so out of hand. The app was removed from the app store on Sunday, Feb. 8, and will not return.
Many iPhones with the Flappy Bird app have appeared on ebay going for ridiculous amounts. An iPhone 5s with Flappy Bird installed was going for an unbelievable amount of $99,900.00, along with many other devices selling for around the same price.
Many teenagers at Audubon High School compete with each other for a high score. Madison Hagedorn has a high score of 232, but the average person can’t get above 10. Kayla Inman, who refused to download the game and has only played it a few times, thinks, “the game is a waste of time and it is too challenging.” It doesn’t matter what your opinion on the game is anymore because it is no longer available due to its misuse and hateful comments to the creator.
