Bastille, an Alternative-pop band from the United Kingdom is on the rise after the recent release of their debut album, "Bad Blood". "Bad Blood" features “Pompeii,” a song that hit #1 on Alternative Radio according to gomoxie.org. The album also contains other popular songs such as “Bad Blood” and “The Things We Lost in the Fire.”
Front man, Dan Smith, when asked about his album said, “I wanted each [song] to be its own story with its own atmosphere which brings in different sounds and elements of productions, incorporating aspects of different genres and styles that I love…”, according to an interview with gomoxie.org. He succeeded in his desire. Every song is different, but the band has a style unique to only them.
Morgan Parris, a senior at Audubon, has been a fan of Bastille nearly since they began. “They are really unique when it comes to pop-rock,” Parris said. “My favorite song is 'Laughter Lines' because it has great vocals and a good instrumental part backing them up.” Parris believes that bands similar to Bastille are “Imagine Dragons” and “Lorde.”
Overall this album is great if you enjoy slow alternative with a pop feel. Yet, no one can deny the fantastic vocals of Dan Smith. If you appreciate an amazing singer with a great band to back him up, this album is for you.
