Jan. 25 is the District Large Group Speech Contest. Lines are memorized, sets built, props gathered, and scenes filmed. The Audubon High Speech Team is ready to go! Readers Theatre had the first official practice of the speech season, on Monday Nov. 4. In years past, practices have started mid to late October. This year’s season began late due to the football team progressing to the Quarter Finals, a feat not achieved in quite a while.
The Speech entries this season include; Readers Theatre, Choral Reading, One-Act Play, two Radio Broadcastings, two Short Films, three Group Improvs, one Ensemble Acting, and one Group Mime. Everyone has worked very hard this year, putting in extra time for last minute practices and late nights memorizing lines. Sophomore, Daniel Thoelke, said, “Speech is good,” giving the thumbs up in anticipation. Getting up early to drive to contest is a small price to pay for the rewards that await at Speech Contest.
